Photographer’s First Love

Introduced to the camera market in 1976, the Pentax K1000 is one of photography’s most beloved machines. It’s simple, it’s reliable, it’s damned-near bullet-proof. This was a standard student camera in its day, it was completely manual, all you had was the F-stop control, the shutter speed, the focus, winding lever and the shutter button. Many photographers who still work with film have this in their collection still, I bring mine out still (I shot half a roll of Tri-X with it just this afternoon). If you’ve never used one before, you should probably fish fifty bucks out of your couch cushions and buy one.
